At Harmony Public Schools–Central Texas, we’ve always known our teachers are extraordinary. This year, the state of Texas agrees in a big way: 127 Harmony teachers have been awarded designations through the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), earning a combined $1,413,890 in recognition for their excellence in the classroom.

What is the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA)?

The TIA was created by the Texas Legislature in 2019 with a clear mission: reward and retain highly effective teachers in Texas classrooms. The program recognizes teachers at three levels—Recognized, Exemplary, and Master—based on classroom performance and student growth.

Unlike other programs that cap the number of teachers who can earn awards, TIA has no limit. That means every Harmony teacher who meets the criteria can earn this recognition, year after year.

How the Funding Works

The amount each teacher generates for their campus depends on two key things:

• Their designation level (Recognized, Exemplary, or Master)
• Campus characteristics such as socio-economic status and rural location

For example, an Exemplary teacher at a high-need campus can generate significantly more funding than one at a suburban campus.

By law, at least 90% of TIA funds are allocated directly to teacher compensation on the campus where the award was earned. The remaining up to 10% may be used to strengthen the district’s designation system or support teachers in earning designations in the future.
